The Blossom Way Creek Greenway Demonstration
project seeks to restore the habitat and aesthetic beauty
of the stream by correcting problems caused by urbanization.
The Rogers Greenways and Trails Committee is
moving forward to procure, connect, and develop a unified greenways
and trails system, which promotes conservation, restoration, recreation
and community interaction.
Rogers currently has a major greenway development
underway near the High School on Dixieland Road called the Blossom
Greenway Project. The project centers on a former drainage ditch
that is being converted back into a natural stream. Several sections
of concrete trails are in place and eventually the trails will circle
the floodway area and connect to the Heritage Trail along the path
of the Butterfield Stage Coach route.
Rogers is also developing a historic trail
in the downtown area that connects to the Heritage Trail near the
Frisco Park Pavilion.
